#ARTIFY Project Theme: “Home is…” Re-interpretations of home, neighborhood and community
ARTIFY is a project that seeks to bring the arts to Hamline Station and create placemaking through connecting community, Arts and local resources on the 1300th block of University Avenue. The site is located on the north side of University Avenue between Hamline and Syndicate in St. Paul on the LRT corridor.
Over the course of 2013 through April 2014, ARTIFY engaged local artists to create and share on the site and foster a sense of place, thus placemaking. The theme will focus on the re-interpretations of home; “Home is…” what makes a place feel like home?
After the project period, PPL (Project for Pride in Living) in partnership with Excelsior Bay Partners (retail component), will develop approximately 108 rental units on this site, a place that many will then call “home.”
For Artify artists and projects, more information is available here.
ARTIFY project is supported by Irrigate, an initiative of Springboard for the Arts, Twin Cities Local Initiatives Support Corporation and the City of Saint Paul and by Project for Pride in Living.
*Placemaking is a multi-faceted approach to the planning, design and management of public spaces. Placemaking capitalizes on a local community’s assets, inspiration, and potential, ultimately creating good public spaces that promote people’s health, happiness, and well-being. Placemaking is both a process and a philosophy.
